After a full coverage of the face coat, plaster impregnated cheesecloth is applied in an overlapping pattern.

A kidney tool is used to smooth out the still damp plaster.

Once the plaster has set the rough edges and corners are planed down with a plaster rasp. The arrow points to on of four pry holes that were created where building the second half of the mold.

Screwdrivers are inserted into the holes to work the two halves apart. This requires a bit of finesse as you don’t want the break anything.
