We shared our booth with Neill
Gorton of Millennium FX. He is without a doubt Europe’s
authority on make-up FX and prosthetics creation. To see more
about him go to: www.gortonstudio.com.
Neil is offering for the first
time, a 7-week and 2-week course on
lifecasting and special effects at his studios in
Buckinghamshire.

We also met with John Schoonraad,
a director of ALI, and extraordinary FX artist in his own right.
He created a full body casting (see right) of a young woman for
the show using FiberGel. What was so riveting is he made it in
one piece and designed the mold so the mold could slip out
without cutting it. Truthfully one reason I didn’t sleep on
Saturday evening was turning over in my mind how he did it.
Thankfully, he revealed his secret to me on Sunday. It was an
elegant an artistic pose as well as a technically well executed
piece. |

Dave Parvin, ALI,
conducted a workshop on Saturday demonstrating "The Latest
Techniques of Lifecasting," to an overflow audience. He
showed how to create a female torso casting using ArtMold's
FiberGel, Algislo and plaster saturated cheesecloth for a mother
mold. |
|

There was a great deal of artistic body painting
at the show. What a great idea to decorate body casts.
