Byur Gullwing a Scottsdale, Arizona lifecaster that is old enough to remember the Beatles and Elvis on Ed Sullivan. He was born in San Francisco, but "native" to Arizona since the age of six months. Byur attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, received B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in the field of gas turbine engines his whole career. Byur is currently employed by major aerospace company. He is married happily for 25 years with one daughter.

His lifecasting work was inspired by a photograph of the lifecast of Whoopi Goldberg that was done by Willa Shallit. He took Willa's course in Santa Fe in 1996, and have been "casting about" ever since.

Most of Byur's work is done as private commission, lifecasts of hands or faces to be given as a gift to a spouse or parent for a special occasion. Sometimes he donates gift certificates for a life casting to be auctioned off by worthy charities or associations during their fund raising auctions.

His first show was  in Exotica 2000, at the Alwun House in Phoenix.

Buyr is a Charter Member of the Association of Lifecasters International.

Lifecasting, to me, is a service to people, to enable them to own a representation of a loved one that is so much more than a photograph. My daughter will be able to give her grandchildren a cast of her face, at the age of 8, with her two front teeth missing. How's that for a memory? These are permanent pieces of art, that are also the most personal mementos one can own."
