Silicone Rubber Mold Making and Casting |  | | These are two-component, room temperature cure, silicone molding compounds. Silicones are noted for their ease of application and high durability. They come in a hardness range of Shore A8 to A28 Silicone rubber is used most often for casting for polyester, epoxy, polyurethane, masonry, gypsum and wax. No release agents are needed. Our tin-cured silicone systems are the most economical. They are best used for casting resins and low melt metals. Our platinum-cured silicone systems will provide the highest performance. They too are best for casting resins and low-melt metals. However, our LifeRite is a skin-safe silicone ideally suited for life casting. | | Above: Master mold maker Michael Kryger opens a block mold of MoldRite 25 silicone rubber to remove a figurine cast in EZCast casting resin. In the fore ground sits a casting created with FXRite silicone rubber as a mold. Prior to casting the mold was sprayed with black lacquer and then cast with EZCast Resin.
